Haleakala trail map

If you’re traveling overnight into the Haleakala backcountry and want a map with topographic lines, you’ll likely want the National Geographic Trails Illustrated map of Haleakala National Park. This covers more ground than the free map (it includes Kipahulu) and shows contour lines as well. I wouldn’t purchase this map if I was just doing a short day hike, but it would be helpful if I needed a Haleakala backcountry map.

This is a map of Haleakala hiking trails, focusing on the summit caldera and showing mileages to trail junctions and cabins. Be prepared for cooler temperatures than elsewhere on Maui!

Haleakala geologic maps

The geologic map of Haleakala National Park shows the incredible diversity of volcanic rocks in the park. This map does not include a legend, but the one below does identify each rock type.
